Welcome

Thank you for visiting
River City Bassmasters site.

River City Bassmasters club was established around 1982 founded by
Ted & Tod Wong, Russell Ogata,Tom Chinn, Ray Vandacore, Bill Clemons, Paul Caperra and Norval Chan.
This club is a little different from the norm...it is a learning club.

Like many other clubs it has it's scheduled events and outings but it is a shared knowledge club.
There are no sacred cows here.
During the meetings and after events we compare notes as to where, when, how, and on what baits fish were caught.

It is also a bass fishing conservational club.

During most of our events we do not place our fish in the live wells to be beat about...we measure and weigh our fish and release them back to the water as quickly as possible keeping only our largest fish of the day for a big fish weigh-in, and only when we feel the fish is of large enough size to warrant it.

This insures a much better survival rate for the fish caught. That is not to say at times members won't keep a fish for the table...on occasion some do if the fish is deep hooked or something... but on the whole 98% or higher are released immediately.

The club is about learning, fellowship, friendships and enjoying the outdoors with a common interest.
I have yet in the 11 years I have been associated with the club to ever see one of our members not help a fellow member...even if they were competing with each other in a major tournament.

Besides our monthly meetings and fishing outings we have three major events each year.

An annual picnic,a camping/fishing trip to Shasta Lake, and the end of the year dinner.
By the way...this is not just a men's fishing club....we currently have two lady anglers...on occasion some of the wife's and girlfriends will fish....usually during one of the special events like our annual family picnic or our annual camp out...which are usually planned around free fishing days here in California...and darned if the ladies don't beat our butts some of the time!!
We are one of a very few clubs that do have female members and was the first in Sacramento to have female members as far as I know.
